Have you ever used a mini water rocket?

Today we got out a science kit. We wrote a hypothesis on what would happen. My hypothesis  on what will happen when the rocket launches: I think the rocket will fly 40-50 feet high.My hypothesis was correct. I enjoyed watching the bottle fly.Have you ever used an aquapod ?

Here is my explanation

How an aquapod works.

Have you ever used an aquapod ?

Throughout this piece of writing I will tell you how one works.

An aqua pod is an orange platform used to launch a  water rocket.

First you fill a large empty soft drink bottle ⅓ of the way up.

Secondly you put the bottle on the ground then attach the upside down pod to the valve where the rubber seal  holds the bottle in place.

Next you plug the pump into the valve on  the aqua pod .then you

pump 8-12 times  this creates air pressure.

Finally you pull the string nice and tight then the launch release pulls back and the pressure pushes the bottle up and the water comes down.

The best part of me.

This week we learnt about poetry. We learnt about how an effective poem has repetition and ryhming. How a poem is written to express feelings or ideas and how words are chosen by their beauty and meaning. My digital learning object is my poem. We went black and white theme, then published our poem, then had photos taken of the best part of us.This poem writing went well because I love poetry although I found it tricky to come up with a fourth idea  for my poem.Have you written a poem before ? If so , what was it about?

Mini golf measurement

Today we learnt about perimeter and area. Area is when you measure a shape and multiply the width and length. Perimeter is when you measure the length and width and add all the sides together. My digital learning object is my mini golf course. On my mini golf course I added the images  to weave around and the ball to show the start and the flag to show where  the course finishes. I enjoyed adding objects and finding the perimeter of my course.I found it tricky to find the area of my course.Have you ever measured the area or perimeter?

when we measured the red cupboard

Three or four weeks ago a few of us Icosahedrons measured the teachers cupboard using unifix cubes. My DLO is  a photo of me and my friends  after the measuring was done.  The learning was based on measuring (obviously)so we had just learnt how to measure the volume  of a 3D shape  (height, width and length)  so a little group of us set a goal really high that was to find the correct volume of the cupboard. Have you ever measured anything? If so what objects have you measured?   Asher ,Emma, Emma and Molly.

explanation writing

This week  we were learning how to write explanations and  we got to choose our topic. I chose pugs' natural features and problems. My DLO is my published writing . This week's learning was four steps long.Research, plan ,write and publish. What types of writing do you do?

why pugs have squished faces

Do you know why pugs have squished faces?Throughout this piece of writing I will tell you why pugs have squished faces, short snouts and health problems.
Pugs from earliest records are chinese bred. The chinese bred pugs to have short snouts because it makes them extra cute.

Pugs' short snouts cause a flat face. Lots of other breeds have flat faces including Bulldogs, Boston Terriers and of course pugs. The scientific name for flat faced dogs is brachycephalic.

Flat  faced dogs can easily get skin eye and breathing problems.pugs suffer from BOAS(brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome)

Now you can see why pugs have flat faces.so to summarise pugs are bred to have short snouts which causes the flat faces which causes breathing problems.
